The Real Story: S is for Socialism
Updated October 03
, 2007

President Bush used the fourth veto of his presidency this morning when he nixed a $35 billion dollar expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program -- otherwise known as S-CHIP.

I knew it, the president really does hate children! If that's what you were thinking; then -- at least according to the media -- you're not alone because a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll found that 72% of Americans support expanding the program.

Or do they? The genius pollsters basically worded their question so that people had to choose between helping poor children by taxing evil smokers, or just letting them die. It wasn't really a fair representation of the issue.

Despite what the Democrats, and the media (actually, aren't they pretty much the same thing?) want you to believe, the Real Story is that expanding S-Chip isn't about the poor children, it's about socialized medicine

How do I know? Because WE ALREADY HAVE S-CHIP FOR POOR CHILDREN! All they have to do is sign up! This is really about expanding the program to the middle class. In some states, people making up to $83,000 dollars a year would've been able to have their children covered. $83,000! Since when is that "low income"? It's not -- it's just the next step in moving us all towards full Universal healthcare. Bring up the income eligibility limit to three or four hundred percent over the poverty line, then raise the age limit; and pretty soon -- what do you know? -- we're all covered by the government. Congratulations, you're now on a four year waiting list to have your brain tumor removed.

If you're a fan of common-sense, I've got one other fun-fact you. Democrats love to say that this plan would be entirely funded by higher cigarette taxes. They also say that those higher taxes will help convince more people to stop smoking -- and they're probably right, since that's exactly what's happened as a result of the huge cigarette taxes here in New York. Now, I'm no Congressional Budget Office analyst, but I am a thinker -- don't they sort of NEED people to KEEP smoking in order to collect the taxes that will supposedly fund their program?

Democrats, you don't need another $35 billion dollars or another $5,000 per child like Hillary wants; what you need is $18. Use it to buy a dictionary and look up these three words: poverty, children and socialist.
