The Real Story: Hillary's Plane Truth
Updated
May 3, 2007

A week ago today, the Democratic candidates for President got together in South Carolina for the first debate of the primary season.  But what happened ON the stage that night was actually pretty boring -- the Real Story is how at least one of the candidates got TO the stage.

Hillary Clinton -- champion of the little people -- had quite the travel "nightmare" last week according to the New York Post. It all started the day after the debate, Hillary had to fly to San Diego and, apppppparently, some staffer had the nerve to charter a Gulfstream 2 for the trip.  Now, anyone who's anyone knows that a G2 is like a '72 Pinto with wings -- it's garbage.  Most people would be embarrassed to be seen getting out of their limo and walking up the red carpet into a plane where only ONE private flight attendant awaits to cater to your every need.

So Hillary did what any self-respecting person, especially someone who loves the little people so much, would do: she sent the G2 back and got the much classier Gulfstream 3 to fly down from Westchester and pick her up.  Now that's the decision making we're looking for in our leaders.

But let me back up because I don't want you to get the wrong impression.  On Thursday -- the day of the debate, Hillary did actually slum it and take the $4,600 dollar an hour plus fuel G2 from Washington to the debate and back.  Then, since she obviously didn't want to be seen with it, she had it fly empty back down to South Carolina to wait for her the next day.

On Friday, she flew a Hawker 800 -- which, honestly, only C-list celebrities would take -- back to South Carolina, where she transferred back the G2 for a flight to Columbia, then decided that she didn't like the "configuration" of it, so she switched to the G3 and flew to San Diego, then San Jose, Reno, Van Nuys, then back to her home in Westchester.

Now, the total cost for just one cross country roundtrip flight on a plane like that is at least $150,000, so you do the math on what it all cost, but the most interesting part to me was when she allegedly flew an empty G2 jet back to South Carolina.  Quite honestly, that means this story is either completely wrong and is basically just a hit piece by the New York Post, or Hillary Clinton has become so warped by unbelievable wealth that she can't even relate to money anymore.
