You
know, I always tell you that until we get over our political
correctness; until we call evil by its name, and admit to
ourselves what we're really facing out there in world, we're
doomed. Well tonight, I've got two stories for you that the
media is just not being honest about....so I will.
First, on Sunday, the New York times ran a front page story
headlined "50% Good News is the Bad News in Russian Radio."
Now let me read a little bit of this for you and tell me
what you think the most interesting part is...
"At their first meeting with journalists since taking over
Russia's largest independent radio news network, the
managers had starting news of their own: from now on, they
said, at least 50 percent of the reports about Russia must
be "positive." In addition, opposition leaders could not be
mentioned on the air and the United States was to be
portrayed as en enemy..."
Does that not sound like big news to anyone else??? Maybe
the New York Times can explain how that little nugget got
one mention in the second paragraph of the article and then
was never talked about again. Maybe they can explain how
referring to us as the enemy is NOT the headline, or how it
warrants just 9 out of over twelve hundred words. I realize
I'm no newspaper editor, but wouldn't you want to press the
reporter just a little bit more on that line? "Hey, Andrew,
can you go and ask how we're the enemy; why they'd make a
decision like that? What does that mean in Russia?"
The Real Story is that this is just another example of our
media refusing to be honest with us; refusing to name our
enemies, or even those who name us the enemy. We're either
so pompous or so stupid that we actually believe it's not
that big of a deal when the biggest enemy this country has
had in the last fifty years decides to start labeling us
that way again.
Of course, it's not just the New York Times that's guilty of
this. I saw another story this weekend that may be an even
worse example -- and I believe the entire media is to
blame. A video has surfaced from Pakistan in which a
so-called "American spy" was beheaded by a boy who looks all
of about 12 years old. The video is absolutely grotesque
and shocking and violent, but it's also important and you
need to see it.
Since 9/11, Americans have become accustomed to learning
about how savage our enemies are by reading about it in the
paper or seeing video of a suicide bombing hours after it
happens. Day after day we hear and read about beheadings
and stonings and unimaginably barbaric acts, but we hardly
ever see them. We're not even allowed to see the World
Trade Center collapse anymore. I could describe to you how
this 12 year old boy hacked away at this man's neck over and
over as the crowd chanted "Allah Akbar;" or how he raised
the man's severed head in triumph once he hacked it
off....but until you actually see it you have no idea what
we're really up against.
Unfortunately, the Real Story is that that video will never
air in the United States. In fact, these pictures you see
are all I'm allowed to show you of it. The media --
including the network I'm on -- says that showing it would
just incentivize people to create more of them. Bullcrap.
If that's true, then explain to me why we would air the
Virginia Tech shooter's rambling manifesto just days after
he massacred 32 people? We label that as "news" to make
ourselves feel better about the ratings it'll bring, when in
fact it's completely gratuitous and irrelevant; the event
had already happened; the threat was over and the murderer
was dead. Well, newsflash:
these Muslim extremists aren't dead and their video isn't
gratuitous or irrelevant...it's a warning. All of us,
Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike have to see with our own
eyes what these people are capable of doing; how far they're
willing to go.
Of course, we can continue to ignore it, just like we can
ignore the Russian media calling us the enemy; or Iran
getting cozy with al-Qaeda and Russia, helping terrorists in
Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan -- but ignoring them
doesn't make them go away. Unlike us, our enemies aren't
afraid to be crystal clear about their intentions...the only
problem is that we continually refuse to listen. |
