GLENN BECK PROGRAM
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

GLENN: Let's go to Rick Santorum. Senator Santorum, how are you, sir?

SENATOR SANTORUM: I'm doing great, Glenn. How are you today?

GLENN: It would be better if the Senate wasn't once again trying to jam the DREAM Act down our throat today.

SENATOR SANTORUM: Well, we have to appeal to our constituency or would-be constituencies, right?

GLENN: Aye-yi-yi. Let me ask you this. They seem to, when it's all politically correct, they seem to understand, when it comes to women, no means no. How do I convince them that when the American people tell it to them, no means no?

Senator Rick Santorum

SENATOR SANTORUM: You know, it's very interesting. In my campaign I ran a lot on the issue of immigration, whether it was the DREAM Act or just the immigration bill that was in the Senate the year that I ran, and, you know, we -- it's an interesting thing, Glenn. We saw the polls, we saw what we saw with a passion but I've got to tell you, in the end it didn't move any numbers. And I heard that story in many, many races where -- now maybe 2006 was, there were bigger issues that overshadowed everything but --

GLENN: Yeah, you had budget.

SENATOR SANTORUM: Politicians actually believe that people are going to vote based on these issues, they're going to do the other thing.

GLENN: Well, first of all, you were in Pennsylvania.

SENATOR SANTORUM: This is not California, I understand.

GLENN: Yeah. So it wasn't a border state. And I think it's now starting to creep all across the country. The rest of the country is starting to get it. And, you know, in 2006 people were -- felt disenfranchised on not only immigration but also the whole thing on -- what were you, you know, what were you guys doing with your spending out of control and you're fighting this war. I mean, here. Finally I can say, wow, we are kicking their ass in Iraq. Violence is down 70% since June, 70%. Now, you're not going to find that story anywhere, but it's the truth. And finally I can say it. We're fighting the war to win. Thank you.

SENATOR SANTORUM: Absolutely. In talking to a lot of soldiers who came back, that was the complaint I heard repeatedly was that our rules of engagement are such that we were trying to do containment instead of actually trying to do something positive and make progress. Just to finalize on the immigration issue, I think it's going to take an election. I think it's going to take an election where on a national scale this issue resonates. It hasn't so far. If it does, then I think you'll see members of congress react and obviously you'll have different members of congress who will really react.

GLENN: Senator, let me switch gears here for a second because I'm doing a whole episode of the TV show tonight just on Liberty in Peril because I think our Constitution is being stolen, or dismantled in the middle of darkness. I think that we're losing our sovereignty, we are -- I mean, here it is. We wanted the Law of the Sea Treaty passed. Joe Biden wanted to pass it, wanted to, quote, rubber stamp it because it's UN day today. We've got people that, you know, the NRA is concerned about our gun rights because it's not for the first time a big issue, and the people who are running on the other side, not really good with guns. We are so on the edge of the barbarians being inside the gates, and one of the things that we're going to talk about tonight is political correctness and beating God out of the public square and being forced to embrace everything but the baby Jesus. There is something going on now that boggles my mind that on campuses it is Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. Listen carefully to that, America. Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week and it's actually being protested around some of the colleges and universities, State's Exhibit it?

SENATOR SANTORUM: It is. In fact, I spoke at Penn State University last night as part of that program and I have two speeches in Philadelphia, one at (inaudible) university is the other at the University of Pennsylvania. Is he one at University of Pennsylvania, the sponsors, Republicans had to change the name of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week because it offended people and so it is called terrorism awareness week.

GLENN: It should be -- you know who it should really offend? Muslims. It should offend -- hang on just a second. It should offend Muslims that it's Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. It should offend them that there are fascists that have hijacked their religion. That's how it should offend them. They should be in the front saying, amen, brother, Allah Akbar, we're with you, Senator Santorum, how can we help dismantle these freaks.

SENATOR SANTORUM: Well, about half the people that were at my talk at Penn State last night were Muslims and that's exactly the message I gave. When they get up and said, thank you, Senator, for coming here and spreading hate and anti-Islamic rhetoric. I said, wait a minute, Islamo-Fascism does not define people. Islamo-Fascism shares ideology. You either share that ideology or you reject that ideology. If you reject that ideology, covering for them, complaining about use of that term to describe people who use Islam as a way to, you know, to rally people, to help take on Western world is not in your interest. Your interest is being precise and saying, you know, who you are and who they are and differentiating. And they don't differentiate, and when they don't differentiate, it leads to the belief that many Americans have is, you know, they're all in this together. They may not be violent but you know what? They protect their own before they're willing to be differentiating between their own. And that's a problem. And you point it out very, very well.

GLENN: So wait a minute. So you said -- you said a great Muslim attendance at this. What university last night?

SENATOR SANTORUM: Penn State.

GLENN: At Penn State. How many of the Muslims in attendance did you feel were "Amen, Senator Santorum" and how many were against you?

SENATOR SANTORUM: Well, I called on almost exclusively, I looked to call on people who looked Middle Eastern or, you know, there were a lot of women there who wore the head scarves and so I tried to call on almost all people who I didn't think would agree with me just to give them the opportunity to make their case. Not one of them agreed with me. Now, I can't say that there were other Muslims who were in the room who were not offended and who felt that way. I had two or three come up and seemed rather positive afterwards but, you know, it was, unfortunately in that group a small percentage but that may be misrepresenting the Muslim community at Penn State or the Muslim community generally. But I can just tell you what my experience was.

GLENN: So Senator Santorum, keep fighting the good fight on this one and God bless you for all that you do. Is this nationwide that all these universities are participating in?

SENATOR SANTORUM: Yeah, it's over 100 universities that are participating. There are going to be speeches throughout the week and, you know, what I found is there is no place in the world where there is less awareness of the threat and the gravity and the nature of the threat from these radical Islamists than on the college campuses and when I had a professor get up and tell me that, you know, we're not -- he's not afraid of Islamo fascists, he's afraid of Christian fascists like me.

GLENN: You had a -- wait, wait, wait. You had a professor say that to you?

SENATOR SANTORUM: Oh, yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

GLENN: Who is this professor?

SENATOR SANTORUM: I don't know, but he --

GLENN: Yes, you do. Come on.

SENATOR SANTORUM: No, I don't. He was at the back of the room when I got up and said his peace. He didn't say his name. Look, I got that at one time, at Brown University I got the same thing from students. I mean, it's -- the -- what goes on at these campuses that you just mentioned about, you know, we can't talk about the baby Jesus, the anti-Christian sentiment, the anti-Jewish sentiment I would remind you at college campuses is really amazing. You know, we are the enemy and, you know, secularism is the worship. But Islam is okay because it's against us.

GLENN: It's absolutely incredible. Senator Santorum, thanks a lot, man, I appreciate it.

SENATOR SANTORUM: Thank you.

GLENN: We're going to cover some of this stuff tonight. Please don't miss tonight's special. Liberty in Peril, Headline Prime, 7:00 tonight. Your chance to speak coast to coast, next.
