Better Off If We Lose The War In Iraq
OCTOBER 05, 2007

GLENN BECK PROGRAM

GLENN: I don't even begin to understand this, and I want to hear from Democrats. I want to hear from people -- talk me down from this tree, please. I want to hear from Democrats that do not agree with this. Nearly one out of every five Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq. The percentage of Democrats, 20% who believe that it is nearly four times the number of Republicans, 5%, who gave the same answer, 7% of independents said the world would be already off if the world lost the war. You are always going to find 5% morons in any population. Please, Democrats, help me out. 20% of people in your party think that it would be better to lose the war. In your right mind tell me how that could possibly be. I don't care how you -- tell me -- use your brain for a second. No matter how much you hate George W. Bush, no matter how much you hate everything else, no matter how much you think we started this because we were making up weapons of mass destruction, even though Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton and everybody else, when Bill Clinton was in office was saying they were there, and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. The Republicans were saying, "Oh, they trumped that up to get his name off the front page of the paper." The truth matters. Now, you tell me in your right mind. Take away all the hate. You tell me how us losing, when it empowers Iran, when it will give a safe haven to Al-Qaeda, when Osama Bin Laden has said this is World War III, these are his words, not mine, not George Bush's, this is World War III and the center of the battle is the battle for Iraq. Tell me how, when we can go in and overthrow a government and destabilize the whole region and take an evil that we know in Saddam Hussein, destabilize it and then create a situation where it will become Darfur. Tell me how us losing is good for the rest of the world. Tell me how, tell me how the United States of America being humiliated, having absolutely no trust in the world. You think we don't have trust now. We at least have a few people that think, okay, when America stands up, they are actually going to do it. They will never, ever, ever trust us ever again. You will not be able to repair it. You can say all you want that George Bush has caused all kinds of problems in the country -- in the world. That's great. I get it. Although it seems France has kind of come around towards us. Seems Germany has kind of come around our way, but let's not dwell there. You can repair what you claim George Bush did, but you cannot repair our credibility of losing a war. You can't do it. So Democrats, please, sane ones, please, please. I only want to hear from Democrats. Are there sane Democrats out there? Are there Democrats out there that are not with Michael Moore? You can hate the President all you want. That's fine. That's great. I get it. Please tell me you disagree with the policies but you don't think that we should lose a war.

20% of Democrats want US to lose
Nearly one out of every five Democrats thinks the world will be better off if America loses the war in Iraq,

I have to take back what I have said about Harry Reid, about what I've said about Nancy Pelosi. I have said that I don't think these people, because -- and it's gone against everything in me. I've said these people don't want us to lose a war. They can't want us to lose a war. That doesn't make any sense. That doesn't help anyone. And, you know, the evidence has been there, but I fought it. But then I have -- I've separated those people who have said they sure appear as though they want us to lose, but I've separated those from the average Democrat. Well, now you've got damn near a quarter of Democrats saying that.

And here's another part of this poll. Most people say they have said a prayer for the troops, 87%. Oh, well, that's big. 87% say they have said a prayer for the troops. Another 77% say they have prayed that the war would end in Iraq. A much smaller majority, 54% of Americans, say they have prayed for the President. I don't -- I don't understand this. Republicans, 74%, say they are twice as likely as Democrats at 37% to have included the President in their prayers. First of all, we should all be down on our knees in praying for the troops. We should all be down praying for an end to this war. We should all be down on our knees every day praying for the President and praying for members of congress. My family prays for the President and members of congress, our leaders in all parties, our leaders all around the world. My family prays for President Tom. How do you not pray for everyone? How do you not pray for your enemies? How do you not understand that we all need guidance from God? What has happened to our country?

We are -- did anybody see the show last night? Did you see the show? You know what? I want to have these guys on from the TV last night, maybe for Monday, for radio. These guys, they're damn near nut jobs. Four years ago one of them was telling me last night, I don't remember what his name was, he was a guy from Vermont and he said four years ago I was talking to myself. Nobody was listening to me. Now I've got 10,000 members of people in Vermont that want to secede from the Union. He was telling me there's no way to repair the Constitution; it must be dissolved, the United States must be dissolved. He was joining forces with another guy, the League of the Southern States, who also had a very small movement until the last four or five years and now that movement has about 10,000 members. In 25 states there are movements to dissolve our country because they don't think we can fix it. Well, we can fix it, but we can only fix it when we get back into the frickin' middle of this country. We have been pushed to the edges. We don't even see the truth the same way anymore. We can't agree that black is white and white is -- or black is black and white is white. We can't even agree on that. Of course we'll agree, unless you happen to be a liberal and you're listening now and you're like, "He's a conservative and he just said the sky is blue. Damn it, it's not blue; it's orange; why don't they just start making stuff up."

I just need to hear from some Democrats that get it. I think -- you know what? On this program at least, you'll hear from Republicans who say the Republicans don't get it. You're hearing it. The Republicans don't get it. Can I hear from some Democrats that say those, at least those 20% of Democrats don't get it? Can I hear from some Democrats today who are disenfranchised with their leadership so we can build a coalition of people in the middle? I know nobody wants to go in the frickin' middle because everybody says you're gonna get run over, but I'm telling you the center won't hold if we're all standing on the extreme edges. You've got -- the founding fathers did not get what they wanted. The individuals didn't want this. James Madison wrote the Constitution and it wasn't the same way. The Constitution, the way he wrote it, had two senators and two members of the House. That was it. The little state said -- no, I'm sorry. It was the other way around. The little states wanted everything to be representative, wanted it to be just two states. Big state said, no, we've got to have a whole bunch of people in there, based on population. The little state said, wait a minute, that can't happen; you'll steamroll us. James Madison fought. He fought. They made a compromise. James Madison didn't get what he wanted, the little states didn't get what they want, but it came down to the fact that they had to compromise or nothing would get done. We have to decide what are we willing to compromise on, what are we willing to compromise on? I have decided I won't compromise on evil and I won't compromise on socialism. Other than those two things, look, man, I'm willing to compromise. I'm -- you know, give me -- show to me, Washington, that you're serious about security. Build the fences. Build the fences. When you have taken the 500,000 people that are coming across our border in the middle of the night, when you have taken that and you've maybe made it to where we think maybe 10,000 people because they are digging tunnels but you're also looking for the tunnels, when you've cut that down and you have put things in place to where it's -- where you just can't take it away, where it's not movable, where it's a permanent fence, then you come to me. And I know this is going to piss off every real conservative in this country, but I will talk to you about a path to citizenship, not before, but I will talk to you about what do we do with the people who are already here.

First of all, you have any criminal records, get the hell out. Get out. You haven't been here for a certain amount of time -- what, I'm going to say -- somebody was here, was brought here by their parents when they were 6 years old and they are now 20 years old and they can't get an education, they got to live in the shadows but their parents are here on visas, everything's fine? What are you going to do? This is the only country that kid has ever known. I'm willing to talk to you about it. I don't like it, I don't want to. What I really want is to ship them home, but I'll compromise because we've got to! We are Americans. We are not Democrats. We are not Republicans. We are Americans. We are a good and decent people. We are a people with God at the forefront. We are a people that we don't pray for God to smite our political enemies. If you believe the President is wrong as I have believed the President is wrong on more than a handful of really big issues, those are the days I pray for the President even more: God, please humble him; please, Lord, make sure, drive him to his knees, please; let him do your will, not anybody else's will; your will; please, Lord, find a way into the hearts of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi; please, Lord, find a way for those two to be able to meet with George Bush and find a way to secure the blessings of this country; please, Lord, please let us reconnect with you, let us reconnect with each other.

We are in trouble, people. Am I alone? I don't think so. I don't think so but, boy, when I see a poll that says 20% of Democrats say it would be better for the world if America would lose a war, I don't understand it. I don't understand America, I guess. It's a day to hear from Democrats.
