President Tom on Homosexuality
SEPTEMBER 25, 2007

GLENN BECK PROGRAM
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

GLENN: Let me go a little bit to Ahmadinejad and the homosexuality thing. Dan, what do you have?

DAN: It's just the raw from when they asked him about, you know, your policies with women and that kind.

GLENN: All right. So let's roll a little bit of this. I don't know how much they are going to roll of this but go ahead. Roll.

VOICE: Mr. President, Iranian women are now imposed rights and your government has imposed Draconian punishments, including execution, on Iranian citizens who are homosexuals. Why are you doing those things?

GLENN: There's that evil smile.

AHMADINEJAD: Freedoms in Iran are genuine true freedoms. The Iranian people are free.

'No homosexuals in Iran': Ahmadinejad
"In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Ahmadinejad said. "In Iran we do not have this phenomenon, I don't know who has told you that we have it," he said.

GLENN: Okay, stop for just a second. I just want you to know. You can't dance, you can't wear certain clothes, you can't -- I'm not kidding you. Women, you will be lashed if you show your hair in public and so there are, like, secret parties where you can listen to American style music. You have to have your windows blacked out and you have to keep the music down really, really low if you want to have a little party and where women and men can get together. So that's the kind of freedom you're enjoying over there.

AHMADINEJAD: Women in Iran enjoy the highest levels of freedom.

GLENN: Of course they do. Hang on. Do you know that as a woman over in Iran you can be married or given for marriage at 9 years old? Yeah! That's rockin' freedom that you just don't have. Dad can't give you away at 9 to have sex with a 50-year-old in this country. You don't have that right as a 9-year-old here.

AHMADINEJAD: We have two deputy vice -- well, two vice presidents that are female, at the highest levels of specialty.

GLENN: Of specialty.

AHMADINEJAD: Specialized fields. And our parliament, our government and our universities, are present. In our technological fields, your technological fields, there are hundreds of women scientists that are active.

GLENN: The science of irony.

AHMADINEJAD: In the political realm as well.

GLENN: That's right. That's craziness.

AHMADINEJAD: It's not -- it's wrong for some governments when they disagree with another government to sort of try to distort lies that distort the full truth. Our nation is free. It has the highest level of participation in elections.

GLENN: Of course it does.

AHMADINEJAD: 80%, 90% of the people.

GLENN: 93% voted for Saddam Hussein, of course.

AHMADINEJAD: Over half of which are women.

GLENN: Yes.

AHMADINEJAD: So you how can we say that women are not free. But as for the executions, I like to raise two questions. If someone comes and establishes a network for elicit drug trafficking, Iran, Turkey, Europe, the United States, by introducing these illicit drugs that destroys them, would you ever reward them, reward them? People who --

GLENN: Stop, stop, stop. I just want to make sure because he's very convoluted here. It's very important you understand. The question is, you execute homosexuals. He's answering with a question: If somebody started an illicit drug trade and they were destroying the youth of your country, would you reward them.

AHMADINEJAD: People who lead the lives -- cause the deterioration of the lives of hundreds of millions of youth around the world, including Iran, can we have any sympathy to them? Don't you have capital punishment in the United States? You do, too.
[ APPLAUSE ]

GLENN: Stop, stop, stop. Stop. Do you hear this? He's saying they are leading people to the deterioration of life all around the world. You have capital punishment, too, do you not? And people are starting to clap! Because I think they're confused. Listen to their clap. Listen to their clap.

AHMADINEJAD: You do, too.
[ APPLAUSE ]

GLENN: Stop. At first they're confused. I don't know. I think that's an anticapital punishment thing that we should maybe get rid of anti -- yes, it is. We should -- yes, we should get rid of anti -- you know, the pun, the capital -- yes, no capital punishment. And capitalism, it's capital punishment and capitalism, they sound alike. We should abolish that as well in this country." Listen to these useful idiots. He's talking about the execution of homosexuals.

AHMADINEJAD: In Iran, too, there's capital punishment for illicit drug traffickers, for people violating the rights of people. If somebody picks up a gun, goes into a house and kills a group of people there...

GLENN: Questions about homosexuals.

AHMADINEJAD: And tries to take ransom, how would you confront them in Iran -- in the United States? Would you reward them?

GLENN: Again we're talking about homosexuals.

AHMADINEJAD: Which would allow microbes to spread across the nation. We have laws. People who violate the public rights of the people are using guns, killing people, --

GLENN: Stop, stop, stop. I just want you to know he inserted the word microbes, microbes. I don't know. This is a guess. Is this an AIDS thing? Because he's making the point that they're killing people and they're destroying the youth and they're killing people. And you just don't let them go. If they're violating laws, well, Sharia law, no homosexuality.

Now, everybody is going to play today the part where he says, we have no homosexuals, and everybody laughs. It's not a joke. It's Sharia law. Can you imagine if again George Bush gave this very speech, do you think they would laugh at him when he said, we have no homosexuals here in America, and he was giving the speech about, do you just let them violate? If he was condoning a law that says you could kill a homosexual for being homosexual, he would be the biggest hatemonger alive and there would be people from the left marching in the streets like gangbusters. And you know what? I'd join them! Unbelievable. They just don't even want to address it. They won't even look at it. And here's why I bring this up. Because here's what came in after the television show yesterday and this is how much the left just doesn't understand you. "Oh, what a piece of work Glenn Beck is. I rarely need to boost my blood pressure to justify watching his bombast but accidentally I left it on after Nancy Grace and got to her him pontificating about Ahmadinejad's homophobia. Get real, Beck. You are on the same page as Iran regarding the topic of homosexuality. Stop exploiting this facet of Ahmadinejad's evil to reach even the liberals who listen to you when we see right through your ruse. Like you, wouldn't love to watch a gay bashing or see our government make an inborn trait a crime. Anyone who has heard your ravings just a few times know you think gays are not worth defending. Arlene Dooling, Avon, Ohio." Arlene, how can anyone be so full of hate as you are?

I am truly sorry that I have ever given anyone the impression that anyone besides child molesters are not worth defending. And you know what? Child molesters still, because of the Constitution, have a right to a defense. This is how much the left, they really, truly believe that everything you could say on -- I don't hate homo -- why would I hate -- I have homosexual friends. I don't do I -- where does that even come from?

Everything that you say, just because you're a conservative, you must hate homosexuals. You must want to starve little children to death. You must just think that everyone with an alcohol or drug problem should just dry up and blow away in a gutter. Well, not only do I have compassion for people but I also have ultra compassion for the alcoholic and the drug addict because I'm a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. Just because you're a conservative doesn't mean you hate people who are different than you are, doesn't mean that you hate people who are Mexican. You know, it's amazing to me how much the left just, A, doesn't get you, doesn't get me, and doesn't want to. They need to hate you. If they -- if they understand that you are -- you know, if they come to the conclusion that you're really a lot like them, you just disagree on a few things, it's not a hate-driven agenda, well, then they have to coexist. And the left, the extreme left does not want to coexist with you.
