GLENN BECK PROGRAM
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

GLENN: Stop, please. Stop the nonsense. Today is a very, very big day. Today... (music playing) The world bids a fond farewell to Luciano Pavarotti. Let's listen. By the way, this is not live. He passed away. We'll go now to Patrick, is it Father? Hello, father.

Pavarotti, Dead at 71

CALLER: Yeah.

GLENN: How are you?

CALLER: Pretty good.

GLENN: Hang on just a second. (Music playing.) A little Pavarotti. Father, how are -- you're in Rome?

CALLER: Yeah.

GLENN: Rome, New York?

CALLER: Yep. Why are you calling a CALLER about Pavarotti? What does that have to do with it? I don't --

GLENN: Well, he's Italian and you're --

CALLER: Why is every news organization going to a CALLER about this story? It makes no sense. There's plenty of other Italians. I know we've got kind of a city that's kind of, you know, the Vatican kind of located in that general area and everything but can you -- history, you know.

GLENN: I know.

CALLER: Anybody recognizing our sovereignty?

GLENN: So I'm just --

CALLER: Hey, an Italian guy died; let's call a CALLER.

GLENN: I didn't mean to --

CALLER: That makes no sense at all.

GLENN: I didn't mean to upset you at all. I know it's probably a very --

CALLER: I'm just sick of this damn music, and I can say damned.

GLENN: I don't --

CALLER: I just, I don't understand it. I mean, I -- listen to this. I mean, he's a nice guy and it's sad and everything, but listen. I mean, listen to it. It's really --

GLENN: It's beautiful. What's wrong? Listen to this part. This is great. (Music playing.) I mean, it doesn't get any better than that. I mean, listen to the voice. I don't know what he's talking about. He could be --

CALLER: You do realize that --

GLENN: He could be singing "Shake it, baby, shake it, baby." I don't know, but it's beautiful.

CALLER: Listen closely to this for a second.

GLENN: All right. So what about it?

CALLER: Is there another use for this music other than a part where a serial killer is murdering someone?

GLENN: Whatever it is, there --

CALLER: Is there? Listen to this.

GLENN: You know, I will tell you, Father, first of all what is your background? Are you -- what is your background as a CALLER?

CALLER: What do you mean what is my background? I'm a CALLER.

GLENN: Well, I mean, is there a -- I mean, do you have any kind of music background, any musical specialties or --

CALLER: Well, you know, I like a little -- personally like a little gangster rap.

GLENN: All right. You know, I never did -- I never did realize that, but as I'm listening to the music, I do seem to recall it has really only been used when they're killing people.

CALLER: Can't you hear the blood splattering on the wall when you listen to this music?

GLENN: You know what?

CALLER: I can see is a guy in a plastic suit cleaning, mopping the floor. That's all I can think about.

GLENN: Well, not at this point. Let me just -- Father, if I may, let's brainstorm here a scene from a movie.

CALLER: I guess.

GLENN: Scene opens. It's a guy. He's just left his -- he's just left his little villa where he's got his mistress, all right?

CALLER: All right.

GLENN: And he's driving his big car and he's happy and it's sunny and he starts to roll down the window. And he's driving now down the highway and you can see the waves of grain off the side, all right?

CALLER: I can see the waves, yeah.

GLENN: You got it?

CALLER: Uh-huh.

GLENN: And he's driving and he's breathing in the air and it's beautiful. Now he comes into a small town and it's -- he's starting to wind around and he sees life all around him spilling out into the streets and then the people bartering for food and people carrying groceries to make their lunch fresh from what they found there in the corner supermarket. And as he's driving his car, he comes to a playground and he looks over to the kids and there are the kids playing in the schoolyard and he thinks, wow, where did my youth go? What happened to me? How did I get mixed up into this crazy upside down world where I make people wear plastic suits and kill people? And you think to yourself, gosh, there's hope. Maybe he's going to turn around. Maybe his whole life will spin on this moment there, watching the little kids play in the playground. Just then he catches the eye of a little boy who's playing ball, and the boy misses the ball and the ball, slow motion, starts to bounce in front of the car in the street. The little boy starts to run. Just then a man, unseen before, slow motion, walks up, turns, looks through the open window, pulls a gun out from under his coat and slowly pulls bullets... (gunfire), only to turn around and walk away, and there left bleeding, dead, eyes open and the little boy holding his ball, watching the whole scene. Huh? Pretty good, huh? What do you think?

CALLER: And then that boy takes over as the next serial killer.

GLENN: That's great, I love it.

CALLER: This is fantastic.

GLENN: You know what, Father, let's talk again.

CALLER: I had a good time.

GLENN: It's not the thing I expected to do on Pavarotti's death day. I expected to mourn all day.

CALLER: This was very nice. And, you know, I was disappointed by the Halloween remake. So it's good. I'm back in the mood.

GLENN: Thanks a lot. Appreciate it. Talk to you later, Father.
