LOS ANGELES, April 10, 2003 – Glenn Beck’s Rallies for America, a grass-roots effort to support our troops which has drawn more than 150,000 people in hometowns from coast to coast, will culminate in a final national rally in Huntington, West Virginia – home state of Pfc. Jessica Lynch. “It would be my fondest wish to have Private Lynch attend one of these rallies to experience for herself the devotion and enthusiasm of a grateful nation, but the next best thing is bringing the rally to her,” said Beck during his on-air announcement today of his last rally scheduled for May 24.

The final Rally for America will be held in West Virginia (exact location to be determined).

In keeping with its grass-roots origins, the West Virginia national rally will be financed by $1 donations from Glenn Beck’s listeners. They are invited to send only $1 each to the USO - Rally For America at Port Authority 625 8th Ave., NY, NY, 10018. Anything over and above funds necessary to cover expenses associated with the final national rally will be donated to the USO.

Beck, a national radio talk show host syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks and heard on 119 stations, announced the West Virginia rally today on air and invited the nation to come, contribute and celebrate the grit and determination of America’s military men and women, exemplified by Private Lynch and the amazing team of U.S. Marines and Special Forces who rescued her under fire.

“I firmly support the right of all Americans to express their views on the war in Iraq or anything else,” said Beck. “But I was moved a few months ago by Adam Ankarlo, son of a Dallas radio personality, who wondered why there were only TV pictures of protests and no demonstrations to support the troops – troops he was about to join as a new recruit.”

Many of Beck’s radio listeners asked him the same thing, so he suggested they call their local radio stations and ask them to organize support-the-troop Rallies for America, as KLIF in Dallas had done to honor Adam Ankarlo – the newly minted Marine.

Beck said that he never expected this concept to sweep the country, as it has done, and to generate so many rallies attended by hundreds of thousands of Americans who wanted the troops to know they were supported and appreciated.
