Gerbil
Space Mountain
Glenn Beck takes on the job of
launching a gerbil into the unknown in his latest project.
Tampa, FL
- Local afternoon radio personality Glenn Beck has a mission for his
program and his listeners. Glenn is taking on the project of
launching a gerbil into the unknown, a bank teller tube.
Glenn thought of the
idea while waiting in line at a bank. "I'm really an idea
person" says Glenn. "I first went inside the bank and
attempted to conduct my transaction in Spanish, however I don't
speak Spanish and I was too embarrassed to tell anyone. So I left
the inside of the bank and decided to use the drive through
instead." According to Glenn this is when he came up with the
idea of launching a gerbil through the the bank tubes. "I
really think a gerbil would enjoy the ride. People can go to Space
Mountain for fun but all gerbils have is a stupid wheel."
Glenn
first mentioned his idea while on the air Monday and his listeners
ate it up. "Normally his show sucks, but I thought the gerbil
idea was great" said one local listener.
But not everyone thought
this was a good idea. Animal rights activist Jane Isaac said,
"I can't believe what Glenn is doing, doesn't he know that this
could hurt that poor gerbil. I am going to start a protest to insure
that this incident never takes place, you can bet on that".
Glenn acknowledged the
safety concerns for the gerbil on his program. "When you go to
Disney World and get into a ride you know that it's safe and this is
no different".
If the gerbil survives
there is one thing it can expect, a celebration. "We are going
to have a big cheese cake and a marching band awaiting it's safe
return" said Glenn.
When Glenn has asked why
he would go through so much trouble to entertain a gerbil he only
had this to say, "I may be number 9 with people, but I'm number
1 with gerbils".
The Glenn Beck Program
is currently ranked #1 and can be heard in the Tampa Bay area
on WFLA970 AM or world wide on the internet from his website at http://www.glennbeck.com
from 3pm to 7pm ET every weekday.
